The Story Behind Belgium’s Wanderlust
Our mission
Our passion for travel drives us to go beyond standard tours. We design experiences that feel effortless, flexible, and entirely tailored to you. From the first conversation to the final drop-off, every detail is thoughtfully handled so you can focus on what truly matters: enjoying the moment.
We believe travel should feel inspiring, not overwhelming. That is why we combine local expertise, premium service, and full flexibility to create days that flow naturally.
Our mission is simple:
To make discovering Belgium easy, personal, and unforgettable.
Why we exist
Belgium is a country full of hidden gems, rich history, and vibrant culture. Yet planning the perfect itinerary can feel complex and time-consuming.
That is where we come in.
We created Belgium’s Wanderlust to remove the friction from travel while elevating every part of the experience. Whether it is a custom pick-up in Brussels, a curated route through Bruges, or a relaxed drop-off in Ghent, we adapt completely to your needs.
Everything is possible, because your journey should never feel restricted.
Our people
Our guides are at the heart of every experience we offer.
Each guide is carefully selected not only for their knowledge, but for their ability to connect, adapt, and bring destinations to life. They are storytellers, locals, and passionate hosts who understand that every tour is different.
Expect more than facts and timelines. Expect engaging stories, local insights, and a pace that suits you.
Whether you prefer a relaxed exploration or a deep cultural dive, our guides adjust the experience in real time to match your expectations.
The guide
Joris
Hi, I'm Joris. I was born and raised in Zottegem, near Ghent, and I'll show you the country the way locals actually live it.
I started Belgium's Wanderlust in 2023, and word of mouth has been growing it ever since. But really it began long before that. I grew up here, in a small town near Ghent that most visitors never reach. I have spent my whole life on these roads, stopping in little places and finding spots by accident that you will not read about in any guidebook.
The stops on my tours are the places my family and I go to when we travel in our own country. A quiet abbey. A valley with no crowds. A private castle you will not find on any list of things to do. A brewery where they still know your name. I found them over a lifetime, and now I get to share them with you.
What a private tour with me is like
Every tour is private and fully built around you. There is no fixed script and no big group. I keep it to a maximum of 8 guests, because quality matters more to me than quantity.
Tell me what you love. History, food, beer, slow mornings, or long drives through the countryside. I build the whole day around it. One day we might walk the canals of Bruges. Another we head to Ghent, Brussels, Dinant, or Ypres. I cover all of Belgium, not just one city.
What you get is the real country. The beautiful, non-touristy side most people miss. It is a personal experience you will not find on a standard bus tour.
For visitors from the US and beyond
I guide in fluent English, and I also speak Spanish, so most travelers feel right at home. I know what English-speaking visitors want from a trip to Belgium. You do not need to plan the logistics or read a map. You just show up, and I take care of the rest. Think of me less as a guide reading out facts, and more as a local friend showing you around.
Why I do this
I love this country. And I love the moment a guest sees a place they did not know existed. That is the whole reason Belgium's Wanderlust exists. Quality over quantity. Real places over tourist traps. A day that feels like yours, because it is.
